I’m helping to change the world by wearing a dress! Yep, you read that correctly. This year, I’m participating in Dressember, a national “collaborative movement leveraging fashion and creativity to restore dignity to all women.” We’re working together to raise awareness and end modern day slavery for women. Did you know that each year millions of women around the world are the victims of sex trafficking? Even within the borders of the United States, there are thousands of women trafficked each year. These are women without basic human rights. Without a voice. But we’re fighting back. We’re joining together and taking a stand to end this injustice. How you may ask? Through the month of December, thousands of women across the US are accepting the challenge to wear a dress every day to raise money and awareness to help fight human trafficking. The impact? In 2015, with roughly 4,600 participants, Dressember raised over $918,000 for International Justice Mission and A21.
I’ve joined a local group of inspiring female business owners and friends, and together we have a goal to raise $35,000. My personal goal is just a portion of that, to raise $350 over the next month. Want to help me reach my goal? Check out my fundraising page. Every donation gets us a little closer to our goal and is a step in the right direction in the fight for rights for ALL women.
